Our Co-founders, Sanket and Vish had an epic time in Barcelona. Below are some of the moments!
In a nutshell, Team is the marquee event held annually by Atlassian to bring customers, staff and partners together under one roof for three days of learning sessions, one on one sessions, vendor booths and quite a bit of socializing and parties! Usually, Team is held in the USA and in 2024, the event was held in Las Vegas.
This year, Atlassian have decided to do Team twice and have now announced they will be hosting a second session in Barcelona, Spain.
The event is held from 8th to the 10th of October and the key focus appears to be around harnessing and leveraging A.I. within your Atlassian suite. However, don't be lulled into a false sense of 'its only about A.I.' as there are literally dozens of other sessions in the event. Make sure that you visit the sessions list to get a full view of all of the opportunities to discover and learn : https://events.atlassian.com/teameurope/sessions
If you are thinking of attending Team, then make sure that you look out for some of the partner sessions by solution partners and marketplace partners alike. These are not published on the Atlassian website so your best bet is to visit your favorite partners' LinkedIn pages and also watch the Atlassian Community.
Atlassian typically announces their big news and product releases at Team events so make sure that you listen out for these in the keynote sessions. Partners, such as Revyz, also release news at these events and this year, Revyz will be launching something very big so make sure that you are following us, or if you are at the event, come and see our booth.
Going to large conferences like Team can be overwhelming and we definitely recommend that you plan ahead. Here are some key things to remember;
There are some awesome prize draws at Team events so make sure that you visit the sponsor booths.
Alex Ortiz created an excellent video for Team 24' Las Vegas which is worth a watch if this is your first event like this.
Our head of Marketing, Stu Lees, says that Barcelona is his second favourite city in the entire world (behind his hometown of Auckland, New Zealand) so make sure that if you are visiting, that you take some time out to experience this wonderful city.
Here are some excellent places to visit;
Sagrada Família: Antoni Gaudí’s iconic basilica is a masterpiece of modernist architecture. Even if you’ve seen pictures, the scale and intricacy of the design in person are awe-inspiring. Book your tickets in advance, especially if you plan to go inside.
Park Güell: Another of Gaudí’s stunning creations, this park offers whimsical architecture, colorful mosaics, and panoramic views of Barcelona. It's a peaceful retreat away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
La Rambla: Take a stroll down this famous tree-lined street, filled with cafes, street performers, and shops. Nearby, you’ll find La Boqueria, a vibrant market where you can enjoy fresh local produce, tapas, and snacks.
Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic): Wander through the medieval streets of this historic area. It’s full of narrow alleys, ancient buildings, and hidden gems like the Barcelona Cathedral and Plaça Reial.
Montjuïc Hill: Head up Montjuïc for incredible views of the city, as well as cultural attractions like the Magic Fountain, MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalonia), and the historic Montjuïc Castle.
These experiences will give you a great mix of Barcelona’s culture, architecture, and atmosphere.
The food is incredible and diverse in Barcelona so make sure that you get out and try some of the following dishes;
Paella: Though originally from Valencia, Barcelona offers excellent versions of this famous Spanish rice dish, often made with seafood, chicken, or a mix of both. Look for local versions like "arroz negre," made with squid ink.
Tapas: A must in Spain, tapas are small dishes meant for sharing. Popular options include patatas bravas (fried potatoes with spicy sauce), croquetas (fried croquettes), pan con tomate (bread with tomato), and gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp).
Escudella i Carn d'Olla: A traditional Catalan stew typically made with meat, potatoes, and vegetables. It’s hearty and flavorful, often served during colder months.
Fideuà: Similar to paella but made with short noodles instead of rice, often served with seafood and accompanied by aioli (garlic mayonnaise).
Crema Catalana: A classic Catalan dessert, similar to crème brûlée. It’s a rich, creamy custard topped with caramelized sugar, making it a perfect sweet treat.
Pair your meals with some cava (Spanish sparkling wine) or sangria, and you'll get a true taste of Barcelona's culinary culture!
